Posting Policy
As you know, we believe human beings are innately wise and caring. That being said, sometimes a little guidance can be helpful in creating a container for those values to emerge. These are our Guru-Guidelines for posting with our site:
For Participants Leaving a Review:
We believe that the best reviews are passionate and personal. They offer a rich narrative, a wealth of detail, and a helpful tip or two for other would-be retreaters. Here are some pointers for conscientious reviewers:
-
Personal Experience: We want to hear about your first hand retreat experience, not what you heard from your friend or significant other. Tell your own story without resorting to broad generalizations and conclusory allegations. When speaking to your experience, do your absolute best to speak from your direct experience and not your opinion.
For example: “I felt very safe during the retreat, the instructors spoke with kindness and compassion helping me to relax into the process.” is an experience-based review, whereas “These people are everything that is wrong with the retreat industry!” is an opinion-based review. When reviewing a teacher, reserve judgements of the teacher and try to focus more on your experience while in their presence: “What did you learn?”.
Some of the richest learning can come from the most challenging of experiences (within reason). -
Accuracy: Make sure your review is factually correct. Do your absolute best not to exaggerate or misrepresent your experience. We do not take sides when it comes to factual disputes, so we expect you to stand behind your review and the claims that you make.
-
Review Updates: Review updates should reflect a new experience or interaction with the business, no need to rehash old-stories here. If you'd like to add a new insight to an old experience, kindly edit your review instead of creating a new one.
Please note: If a negative review is in indeed submitted, each organization reserves the right to respond to the review. The organization’s response will be appended to the review so that both sides are equally heard and honoured. Again, we do not take sides at Retreat Guru when it comes to disputes. Whether you are a retreat organization owner/teacher or a retreater, we honour and reserve the right for both sides of the story to be told.
For Organizations Listing with our Site:
Sometimes people leave a review, and an organization either disagrees with it, claims it to be false or flat-out doesn't like it - all of which can lead to a review-dispute. In the case of a review disputes there are a few options offered. A Retreat Guru employee may go through the review and remove anything that does not comply with the Posting Policy. Example- “Everyone at this organization is a narcissist!” would be omitted as it is pure-opinion and not based on the participants direct-experience.
If a portion (or all) of the review does not match the Posting Policy criteria either the participant may be asked to re-write their review, or the review may be edited by a Retreat Guru employee to meet the posting guidelines (to be based on direct-experience).
The organization will also be offered the opportunity to post a response to the review (if desired). This response may be emailed to support@retreat.guru where we will add it on behalf of the organization.
Requests for being removed from our site - If your center is closing down, or you are no longer offering as a teacher, you may request for your profile to be deleted and removed from our site. This request must be accompanied with supportive documentation to illustrate that the status for you as a teacher or you as a center is indeed changing.
Important - Under no cicumstances do we remove center or teacher profiles with negative reviews - We have a responsibility to provide accurate information for those listing on our site and to preserve the integrity of all verified reviews left with us. Part of our intention is to create a safer retreat community for all, and that includes preserving participant feedback to help the community make informed retreat choices.
For all the Beautiful Beings Using Our Site:
-
Inappropriate Content: We realize not everything is “love and light”, but there's no need for threats, harassment, lewdness, hate speech, and other displays of bigotry.
-
Linking to Outside Sources & Contact Info: We do not allow posting links to outside sources such as your website, youtube or social media. We also ask that you do not add contact information into your listings. If a participant would like to contact you, they can do so through our platform.
-
Conflicts of Interest: We support self-love, but please reserve that “love” when it comes to writing reviews for yourself or others you may have an investment in. Your contributions should be unbiased and objective. For example, you shouldn’t write reviews of your own business or employer, your friends’ or relatives’ business, your peers or competitors in your industry, or businesses in your networking group.
-
Promotional Content: We appreciate the proper use of our services. If you are not posting a retreat, or leaving a review, then please leave the “marketing ads” at home. Let's keep the site clean and clear for everyone without the commercial noise-pollution :-)
-
Relevance: Please make sure your contributions are relevant and appropriate to the site. For example, reviews aren't the place for rants about a business's employment practices, political ideologies, extraordinary circumstances, or other matters that don't address the core of the retreat experience.
-
Privacy: Not everyone wants their faces floating around the interwebs without their consent. Please don’t post close-up photos or videos of other patrons without their permission.
-
Intellectual Property: This one is simple: Don’t swipe content from other sites or users. Use your inherent creative capabilities to write your own reviews and take your own photos and videos, please!
-
Demanding Payment: Beyond simply asking for a refund to remedy a bad experience, you should not use removing or posting your review as a way to extract payment from an organization/teacher.
-
Nudity: Most of our team members are strong advocates of #freethenipple, unfortunately, the interweb is not. Please do not display nudity on your listings.
